The idea of the Blog is to support a small Charity and this season we have chosen "Nottingham Stroke Club". A small charity that relies on fundraising with no paid workers. It offers support to Stroke victims and hold day meetings every Thursday to include a Quiz, lunch, chair exercises and also day trips and holidays. We are to sponsor 25p for each goal we see scored during the 2019-2020 season at matches we attend. Any clubs that would like to pledge or friends/fans please contact me

ASHA HIT SENIORS FOR FOUR

Pre Season Friendly
ASHA FC 4 RAINWORTH SENIORS FC 0
att: 35 plus 5 dogs

Saw this friendly advertised on NSL newcomers Facebook page earlier in the week, so contacted player Matt Hayes to ask of I could grab a lift, which he kindly agreed to.

On arrival at the Lees Lane Ground, South Normanton, where Asha FC will be playing their home matches for the upcoming season, I was greeted by some old friends from the South Normanton Committee.

Asha welcomed me and also Adam Mellors from Rainworth Seniors, the game soon kicked in bright sunshine with the Seniors playing down the slope and had the first couple of chances, whilst Asha were playing themselves in to the game.

On 10 minutes, Asha floated in a corner from the right hand side, to which it was struck in to the net to give them a early lead and settle their nerves.

In the 16th minute, Asha doubled their lead when a slip up in the Senior defence saw the Blues make it 2-0.

On 23 minutes, everyone thought it was 3-0 when from a acute angle the ball ended up in the net, there was a bit of confusion as Asha returned to their half and the Seniors confronted the referee, the referee then went over to the Assistant Referee and he adjudged that the ball had gone out of play on the far side, which to be honest I couldnt see and the ref ruled out the goal.

Asha didnt have to wait long before it was actually 3-0 as they scored in the 28th minute.

At half time, a lot of changes were made as they usually are in pre season friendlys and this seemed to take the sting out of the game, though The Seniors had the better of the half, but it was Asha who in the 80th minute made it 4-0.

I must thank Matt Hayes for a lift to and also bringing me home from the match.
